Antonella Papa

SAiGENCI - Adelaide University, SA, Australia

Associate Professor Antonella Papa is Head of the Cancer Biology and Cell Signalling Laboratory at the South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI), Adelaide University. She obtained her PhD from the University of Bologna, Italy, and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Since establishing her independent research program in Australia, she has focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underpinning cancer development and resistance to therapy, with particular expertise in the PI3K/PTEN signalling pathway. Her research combines genetically engineered mouse models, patient-derived organoids, and multi-omics technologies to identify novel therapeutic targets for breast and ovarian cancers. More recently, her work has revealed a critical role for PI3K signalling in regulating ovarian function and female fertility, opening new avenues for understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern reproductive health and disease.
